SafeBuy exists for one reason: nobody should send thousands of pounds for a van they’ve only seen in photos.
Our story
Built by someone who lives on the road
SafeBuy was started by a full-time motorhome dweller who knows how much rides on getting the right van — and how many adverts online aren’t what they seem.
Vans are one of the most common bait items in online purchase scams. And even when the seller is genuine, the expensive problems — damp in the walls, a tired gas system, a seller who isn’t the registered keeper — don’t show up in photos.
So we built the service we’d want ourselves: someone independent, on the ground, looking at the van with the buyer’s interests at heart.
What we stand for
Four promises
Paid by you, not the seller
We’re booked by the buyer and we report to the buyer. No commissions from sellers, no conflicts.
Honest reports
We tell you what we saw — the good and the bad — in plain English, with photos and readings to back it up.
We never touch the van money
You pay the seller directly at handover. We only ever charge for our own services.
Clear prices
Fixed check prices, and a travel or drive-home quote before you commit. No surprises.
What we are — and aren't
Clear about what a viewing covers
- We are an independent viewing and checking service for buyers
- We check the seller, the paperwork, the vehicle and (with the Habitation Check) the living area
- We record what we see and measure on the day, with photos and video
- We aren't a dealer and we don't sell vans
- We aren't a replacement for a full mechanical inspection by a qualified mechanic
- We aren't a payment service — we never hold money for the vehicle
